I think the backlash was double. DC canceled the Linda Danvers version who had her fans over a 10 year run, I guess to reclaim the name for another character. And Cir-El is introduced as Clark and Lois' daughter from the future who has come back in time to yell at her parents for being bad parents even though they aren't parents yet. I think the vitriol faded when she was revealed to not actually be their daughter, just some brainwashed clone, and died unraveling a plot by time maestro Brainiac 12.



Doomsday is not a character, just a force of nature that figured into one good Superman storyline. Every appearance since then is a poor attempt to cash in on value that just isn't there.

Parallax is a similar force of nature, although much more lame in conception, who figured into one poorly written story that unfortunately had such a devastating effect on 10 years of Green Lantern mythology that he retains an undeserved share of power. He mostly shows up as a suit worn by other characters who need a power upgrade.

In the same way, Imperiex is a force of nature who figured into one mediocre story and wasn't memorable enough to have nostalgia for anyone. At least I don't think he ever appeared again.



People seemed to like him as some sort of master manipulator but I only ever saw him in one story so I'm not sure. Didn't he kind of act like John Constantine?



Yeah, it was weird. Every Zod during the Post-Crisis era was some attempt to use the name but not make him Kryptonian. We had the Pocket Zod, Ghost Zod, R2K Zod and now Russian Zod.



But "For Tomorrow" is the intro for yet another new Zod, thus one apparently the actual Post-Crisis Kryptonian version who is then killed at the end of the story.

Father Leone was another counselor for an uncertain Superman. The whole modern take that Superman is a guy who isn't sure if doing the right thing is the right thing.
