If you read this month's Marvel spotlight then you will find that uncle Walt drew heavily on Lord of the Rings to inspire his epic run. Walt also rid us of the pestilence that is Don Blake. Did he poop on the legacy of the Mighty Thor?

It makes sense that LOTR would influence Thor as Tolkein was influenced heavily by Norse myth. This stuff doesn't happen in a vaccuum.

I am glad that you like Don Blake. It makes me feel better that someone actually enjoyed what I considered a waste of space since 1972 when I first got started with Thor the comic after being read to about our favorite thunderer in "In the Days of Giants" by my folks as a toddler.

Some of Mighty Thor poops on the mythic Thor according to your analysis.
I think of it as an interpretation but you would have to say poops.

Sorry, I've been with a YouTube subculture for almost half-a-year, so I apologize for the obscure joke.

Anyhow, that IS a good point.

I don't think UK's argument of the movie -supposedly- jumping on the LotR*Bandwagon doesn't hold any water (but then again, none of his 'arguments' hold any water whatsoever), especially with this revelation that Walt was inspired by said books.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
