...are contained in Thor: Visionaries by Walt Simonson, volumes 1-4. Walt Simonson is the definitive Thor writer and I've reread his stories over and over.

Thor: Ragnarok (part of the Avengers: Disassembled storyline) is the last Thor arc before the current series. It's collected in trade form and was by far the best part of Avengers: Disassembled (perhaps the only good part).

Thor: Son of Asgard is available in digest form I think, and if you want to read about Thor when he was a kid before he could wield Mjolnir it's a fun read.

That's a start for you anyway. There are guys way more knowledgable than me around here who can help you further. \:\)

Thor essentials 2

Has the story line where Thor battles against and then on behalf of Herculese, meeting the warriors three, Loki at his worst and a few other... well... essential pieces of the Thor saga.

Against the Celestials 1 and 2 (TPB)

are classic Thor tales that really show the winghead in classic taking on the uber beings mode. Selfless courageous and unyielding.
