Hello, my name is Paul Sanders, long time lurker, occasional poster (so occasional as to escape detection...)

Anyway, I have seen on occasion that there are some members of a religion/philosophy/belief system named Asatru that I'm really interested in. Strangely enough, having read Thor's stories for years, and him being one of my favorite comic characters, has kind of influenced me towards mythology/spirituality in that direction.

Anyway, I searched and saw a bunch of reputable/disreputable websites regarding Germanic Neopaganism / Asatru. Anyway, Isearched the links at the top of the board, and while there is some good stuff there, I'd kinda like to try some books or other suggested sites to help me on that journey.

So, anyone specifically suggesting any books, etc? regarding the Asatru faith? Thanks,

      Paul Sanders

I had question regarding these materials. I'm excited about the book, which I"m requesting on Inter library loan as well as some other Asatru texts.

I"m also a bit concerned because there are several "watchdog"-style books that lump in moderate people with those espousing racist views. It seems that half the sites I've gotten to are borderline on racism while the other specifically state they are open to all people and orientations. I recently left Christianity over some discrimniatory behavior, and would rather not jump into that again.

HOw this relates to Thor? As a young kid, (I'm only 23 now), I read Kurt Busiek's Thor and that's how I loved the character. How he showed up in the Ultron Arc and whupped Ass was the coolest thing ever. Powerful, noble, confident.

And then, secondly, I stuck with the series as it questioned the prevalence of White Avengers. The media blasts really tough, embarassing questions, and Thor gives a response that made me a lifelong fan:

What hath the color of a man's skin do with the content of his Heart?

I mean, really that's the kind of depiction of Thor that has interested me in Asatru, so, I guess, thanks to Marvel comcis are in order.

Anyway, sorry for all this off topic stuff, and if you guys want to pm me personally with responses, I understand.

Thanks for everything

Paul Sanders
