    It's 'Fehu' in the Elder Futhark, referring to wealth/livestock.

    I'd say they've used it moreso because it's an 'F', rather than any deeper meaning. ;\)



Your probable right, but considering Fandral's carefree lifestyle I wouldn't be surprised if he is fairly wealthy or at least tends not to be lacking in money. That would leave time for adventuring. Of course, if it refers to wealth in less specific terms Fandral could consider himself wealthy in friends and such.
