This issue contains stories for all the Cabal members. The Loki story is pretty decent, and goes into more detail regarding Loki's deal with Doom. Although Loki's true intentions are not revealed, it appears his scheme centers around Asgard itself, and not necessarily the Asgardians.

    Quote:
Loki's dinner with Doom is classic. Doom tries to test Loki's identity in various ways -- from poisoning his food to trying to incinerate him. Doom also notes that Loki could assume any guise or gender he wished (finally someone says it), but Loki says he wanted to drop all deceptions for their meeting.

Overall it reads as a solid story and fills the gap left by JMS. I'd be interested in reading more Thor stuff from Peter Milligan. He might be able to take over for JMS.

I agree. I don't think this issue got any discussion at the time, but the Loki story was solid. It raised an interesting question about what exactly does Doom get out of this side deal and hosting the Asgardians. I think that is going to be an important piece of this story when everything is said and done. I also agree Peter Milligan handled Loki well. I wouldn't have thought of him ever as a possible JMS replacement, but he showed he might be capable.
