Quality over quantity. I'm not saying that a competant new writer couldn't bring in the same type of quality as JMS. But, if it was the case where the book would come out on time, have the same artist and a great writer then I'm sure the title would still get great sales.

I'd say this isn't a given. JMS does attract readers. Just saying: be careful what you wish for. In the wrong hands Thor could easily devolve into a title with poor sales that no one takes seriously. Not a lot of writers get Thor or understand what makes the character work. With JMS the title will not come out often, but it will sell well and be widely respected.

The general opinion from the majority of people is that they are just fed up with the book coming out nearly every two months.

How have you identified this majority? Why are so many people still buying the book? A few people complaining on the Internet doesn't indicate widespread unrest.

On the other hand, I heartily agree that long delays suck the joy out of reading a comic. My vote goes to #3: adding a second title with a different creative team, either a Tales of Asgard format, or simply an action oriented title that works its way around whatever JMS is doing in the main title.
