Well with the Simonson run it makes me wonder just how many were sales to those who were basically hording many books to sell later and not even fans. Which I'm sure is the case this round too, but the major difference is there seems to be many more fans who remain past the first 3 issues because they understand Thor now.

Probably seems that way because a movie is iminent, However, I seem to recall reading (though Eetmi would be the expert) that Thor under Walt was selling about 500,000 issues per month, easily 5 times what JMS is pulling in. Different era of course.

Thor just seems to be more popular now than he was then. I don't recall if there were any sell outs during those runs or not. It'd be interesting to find out if there were and how many.

Possibly wishful thinking on our parts. ;\-\)

-sales wise todays market is just a fraction of the silver and bronze age books. As you say two different eras and todays marvel probably brings in tons more cash but I doubt they ever reach the # sales of yesteryear.
