I won't get into how stupid that is...But my what i want to know is, was this said in the comic, or is this fan speculation. If it was said in the comic, its a bit suspect to say the least. I mean thor killed the Midgard (as Loki's child he is Asgardian royalty) Serpent with his hammer and it wasn't tainted. BRB killed Fenris (royalty due to being Loki's son) with his and his hammer is just peachy.

my guess is that it's more mystical in nature and there might be at least 3 showings to lend that some support

1) -long time ago: Thor fighting Hulk asked Odin to remove the enchantments from Mjolnir (which he did) so Thor could have a test between him & hulk without mjolnir or magic - after the removal the Hulk gets a hold of Mjolnir and is attempting to break it , to which Thor (in thought balloons) realizes that without the enchantments Mjolnir might be damaged ...

2) Dark Gods saga where the hammer is sliced by what I believe is an enchanted scythe-like weapon

3) Again long ago against the Enchanters -the lead Enchanter creates or induces and incredibly hot fire or energy from within or around mjolnir, so hot that Thor does not want to grab hold of Mjolnir --no damage was done to Mjolnir but it shows the ability to mystically manipulate mjolnir

4) when Thor uses a powerful enough God-Blast Mjolnir gets destroyed in the process

Mjolnir is enchanted by Odin Force --Bor possessed and/or contributed to the power that is the Odin Force, and may still have had some sort of hi-level mystical power -- so it's wouldn't be any royal member it would be a source member and mystical power that contributed to/caused/resulted in the damage to Mjolnir --the killing of Bor may have been symbolically reflected in the killing of a source of the Odin power, and so in part (at the very least) the killing of a part of the enchantment power of mjolnir, the destruction of a source
direct or indirect, that mystically powers Mjolnir
