The Avengers with Thor will almost surely outsell Thor's own mag. Just about any regular here knows my disdain for all things Bendis writes. I can't help but have a sneaking suspicion it was Thor Bendis wanted Sentry to rip in half, not Ares. I will be amazed if Thor isn't looking like a bigger tool than Wonderman by the time his run is over. That being said, is there anyone who is looking forward to him writing our favorite thunderer? If so why?

I've no idea how Bendis will approach Thor. But as is now commonly accepted he is chiefly a streetleveller writer who is comfortable writing streetlevel characters. He's done good work on that front and his love for the likes of Cage and Mockingbird is quite evident.
How he might write Thor can be seen with his treatment of Ares, a big strong guy with an Axe (Hammer) you can throw at stuff and watch him wreck while the sharper minds in the team are the drivers of the story....

I think that's the legitimate concern really as we know that's the way he writes, Ares and Sentry are mostly hunks who beat stuff up in big brainless set pieces, and Wonderman was the background wallpaper of the team.
The relaunch gave us a thinking mans Thunder God. Someone quite layered and very morally centred but it seems default that he has to revert to a mere Cog when placed in an Avengers setting, to my mind only Roger Stern did him any Justice in the modern era and i suppose it's just a fact of life this sort of powerful character has to be written down a little when in a team setting though at this critical juncture in his history Thor really does need looking after by Marvel. I really worry he might be slowly sliding back to the banality of the mid to late 90s....
