Thor elevated Asgard using the odinpower. Sentry took it down by flying through the city's foundation and causing destruction. But why would this cause Asgard to actually fall to the ground?

The odinforce is keeping it up. What does flying through the foundation and physically tearing a hole through it have to do with reversing the odinspell?

We've seen this kind of thing before with Jean Grey- Jean telekinetically throws an object at someone, her target cuts it in half or blasts it into pieces, and it starts falling down. Although in Jean's case, her power depends on her concentration so it's somewhat defensible.
If you want an explanation, the spell only worked when the city was in one piece and Loki mentioned this to Norman.
