I am conflicted about not supporting a Thor solo project.
There doesn't seem to be a good answer here -
Poor sales sends the message that Thor can't carry a project.
Supporting it gets us more of the same - and from what I've seen I really don't want more if it's in this vein.
Now I am going to get a bit sarcastic but I'm just having fun not yelling at anyone.
Hell I can't even be mad at Yost anymore since Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes has been generally excellent for Thor and everyone.
I am baffled as to why there are Hulk animated properties that are satisfying for the character's fans but Dr. Strange, Iron man and Thor seem to have such difficulty getting the same level of fan pleasing fare.
The formula is simple - portray the title character as he is portrayed in the comics - done.
Planet Hulk was great because it was uh, um, uh, oh it IS so hard to figure out isn't it? Oh yes, PLANET HULK!
Not child Hulk or nerd Hulk or serial killer Hulk or coward Hulk or some other watered down versions of the Hulk - it was Hulk at his best.
The only parts that were less than stellar where when they cut corners on giving us elements of Planet Hulk.
Ditto with Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
So why, oh why, is that lesson lost with these other solo character projects - most importantly - 'cause of what board we are on - Thor?
Why not against the Celestials or Thor saving Herc from Hel or GASP the Walt Simonson Surtur saga?
No, that would NEVER sell would it?
Never help put the character over to a broader public.
Surely the Brat of Asgard is the way to go right?
I shake my head at the amount of hard work and effort that goes into chasing the smallest return for a project like this.
