Thunderstrike does possess the power of Thor, yeah? Surely he should be able to do *something* to Mangog, with all that power, yes?

Now, he's obviously not as experienced with this power, so I suppose there's that.

Way back in THOR when Eric was THOR, first ODIN was restored from his captivity with Mephisto and then THOR was restored from his banishment and separated from Eric.

THOR decided to "retire" as it were and marry Sif and bestows his hammer and power to Eric so that he can continue to guard Earth.

Odin is pleased that his son will finally be done with Earth, but NOT pleased about giving Mjolnir to a mortal and warns THOR that the hammer is meant for the gods and mortal hands cannot wield it for too long due to its power being so awesome. THOR had faith in Eric however and wouldn't do anything.

ODIN arranged for a THOR vs Eric fight which in the end was a stalemate as both rejected the hammer and thus proved worthy per ODIN. ODIN then had the Thunderstrike mace created and bestowed it to Eric Masterson. Odin wanted Earth to have a protector but with a weapon not was powerful as Mjolnir.

To me however this doesn't make a lot of sense as Beta Ray Bill is a mortal and he wields Stormbreaker which is supposed to be the equal of Mjolnir and Bill's power is supposed to match THOR's.
