Way back in THOR when Eric was THOR, first ODIN was restored from his captivity with Mephisto and then THOR was restored from his banishment and separated from Eric.

THOR decided to "retire" as it were and marry Sif and bestows his hammer and power to Eric so that he can continue to guard Earth.

Odin is pleased that his son will finally be done with Earth, but NOT pleased about giving Mjolnir to a mortal and warns THOR that the hammer is meant for the gods and mortal hands cannot wield it for too long due to its power being so awesome. THOR had faith in Eric however and wouldn't do anything.

ODIN arranged for a THOR vs Eric fight which in the end was a stalemate as both rejected the hammer and thus proved worthy per ODIN. ODIN then had the Thunderstrike mace created and bestowed it to Eric Masterson. Odin wanted Earth to have a protector but with a weapon not was powerful as Mjolnir.

To me however this doesn't make a lot of sense as Beta Ray Bill is a mortal and he wields Stormbreaker which is supposed to be the equal of Mjolnir and Bill's power is supposed to match THOR's.

thunderstrike jr. shouldn't even last a minute! he has NO training in fighting or any combat experience. this what i'm talking about SMART and CREATIVE writing. if defalco is this kind of writer, he will write where eric uses his brain instead of his brawn to combat mangog.

thor has fought mangog so many times, he must know that going head on with him is pretty much useless. the only time that he defeated mangog man-o-man-o is when thor stuck his hammer down mangog's mouth and blast his insides to smoke. either that or transport mangog to another dimension where he can't do any harm to earth.

i know that in comics, we need to see a good fight and get us interested, but come time, you have to do the smart thing and use your brain to defeat mangog instead of brawn.

tom defalco - please be a smart and creative writer and give me something where i can say, "wow, now that great writing! thor isn't stupid after all!"
