Subj: I would also take a well written story with an ugly victory...

Reply Subj: Vol Jr. - I really do feel your pain but World Eaters showed Thor winning ugly and it -ahem-sucked.

World Eater was a badly written arc (although it had some potentials, story-wise), so that plus an ugly victory are just two negatives. I can take a well written story with a rushed victory for the protagonist. For someone like Thor, with his strength and other powers, fights can literally end with one hammer throw. So, yeah, the most ideal is for the story to be well written and some nice showing for the hero. But i can settle for just a well written story without much of a fight, as long as the hero wins in the end. Sure, sometimes they have to show a hero losing, since that is part of life (can't win them all), but like what Volstagg Jr said, Ultimate Thor has been racking up the losses since his introduction (without much on the win column, except for a few...), and this time, the ultimate Asgardians died without much pay-off in the end. It was a pretty "meh" story other than the shocker of killing off the Asgardians.
