Fairly predictable given the heads-up teaser in the first issue, but no less enjoyable for it. The writer is wonderfully old school. The Eternals and Deviants have always proved a great source for Thor, being far beyond the likes of Quicksand, Mongose etc. As with Astonishing, the pacing is neither too compacted or deconstructed, with the art not quite up to the standard of the painterly style in Astonishing and Blood Brothers, but still clean, easy on the eye and dynamically composed. I was a bit confused when Thor grasps Virago though - it looks like Thor is about to tear his head off instead a greeting a former one time comrade. Some great classic characters appear, with a decent slugging partner for Thor....but it's not exactly clear why he got his ar$e handed to him.
The continuity notice on the front page proves this book's worth. I think it's Ralph Machio editing, and it shows. Looking forward to 3!
