I know that is the big thing for Thor about why he was sent to Earth, but it feels like in just about every story to center around him where he is not putting in a guest appearence is about Thor learning humility.

I do not think all sotires focus on it as he fights all sorts of things all over in many and is doing things that do not make him appear humble. He still boasts alot.

Thor Film -- Thor being humbled. Makes sense due to this being Thor revealed to the public at large.

Yup, I think it is important for it in the movie to make him relatable. They did a good job too. Even in arrogant mode Thor was not unlikable. Just seemed misguided and did before he thought. Sort of like a teenager.

Avengers: EMH -- Thor and the rest of Asgard learning humility by being saved by the Avengers and paying homage to them.

Yup, but I think that is good too. Gods are part of a universe and not the center of it. It shows that humanity is capable of great things themselves. And does not depend on gods to save them. In fact they can save the gods. I liked it.

Next Avengers: Thor being a deadbeat dad and his daughter being abandoned on Earth to learn humility.

Never saw it, but that is sad.

Hulk vs -- Thor learning how to be a true hero from Banner.

I only saw it once and was so annoyed by it I did not focus on it much.

Thor: Tales of Asgard -- Thor learning humility and to grow up.

It fit.

Comics -- Many one-shots and side stories over the years.

I know in some of these instances are necessary, but in anything outside of comics it feels like we only get "awesome Thor" for one episode guest appearences. Everything else is him learning some lesson in humility.

I do not think it is as many as you are saying it is. It is important for the character because how powerful he is and that he can lose focus on the little guy. That said I think there are many stories of him being the mighty defender. Thor being closer to humanity than the other gods makes him more humbile than all of them. Although that said many humans could learn a lesson in humility too.

Its sort of like how Wolverine's origin is rehashed a half a dozen times whenever he appears outside of comics. With Thor it feels like the whole "humility lesson" has to be rehashed so nothing about Thor is ever shown beyond it. It may fit in the instances where it used, but it would be nice to get some variety.

Sort of like how Hulk got his own feature showing him how tough he is and other story sides it would have been nice to see Thor in one where he isn't humbled for the hundredth time.
