It's kinda of like Jaco Pastorius- The World's Greatest Bass Player. He would go around to all the Jazz greats and introduce himself this way and they would essentially tell him to f*ck off or something to that nature and then.... They Heard Him Play. Jaco always said: "It Ain't Bragging If You Can Back It Up!!!" When written by someone who gives a sh*t about him- THOR BACKS IT UP!!!! (and then some).

If the best Jazz player in the universe and beyond never miss an opportunity to remind anyone that he is the best at what he does instead of letting his music speak for itself, IMO, he is boasting no matter if it's 250% true. You can be the best and more but there is no need to brag about it. Modesty ask for you to let your actions speak for themselves. Thor likes to tell people he is a god and that he is the shit. He likes it a lot.

Thor is Confident to the N-th degree. Those with "penis envy" consider it Arrogance/Bragging/Boasting. It reminds me of when guys call someone "gay" and/or "fag" because all the girls swoon over a particular male celebrity or when woman talk smack about an extremely attractive female.
Thor's culture is  one based on the concept of reciting ones accomplishments (it's like his resume).
