    Quote:
Thor's interest in Earth is often the source of stress between Odin and him. The other gods treat it more as a hobby or passing interest he will give up eventually. We know Thor once took an interest in Earth to be worshipped, but was eventually turned off by humanity's brutality in his name. Currently, Thor's interest in Earth has only been about 10-15 years. For a god that is probable what...a few months?

    Quote:
Thor's current interest is in part due to the friends he made on Earth, challenges the modern heroic age presents, the connection through his mother, and an overall sense of nobility to protect those weaker than him. On the other hand he has lamented the briefness of mortal lives compared to his own and seriously considered returning to Asgard due to everyone he knows one day dying. A common criticism by immortals. Do you think once Thor's current mortal friends die off in the coming decades his interest in Earth will wane and he will return to Asgard more on a full time basis?

With comics it is not like they are going to die of old age. Save for in specific books dealing with that subject matter. Do I think Thor would turn away just because his friends died? Not in and of itself.

I think humanity would have to do something to get him to stop and even then his nature would not let him stand aside if they needed him. At least in nonskyfather sort of mode. Otherwise seems to me like Thor would fight to the end out of principal as much as anyone would. For many of his allies he would fight in their memories and tell stories to their children and childrens children. It is the burden of such a being to do this. Would it weigh on him over the years. Maybe, and maybe that is why Odin always wanted him to avoid Earth.
