    Journey Into Mystery #633

No comments on this yet? Thought it was a pleasure to read:

•Did we know that D'Spayre was Dweller's son?

Well... we knew that D'Spayre was created by the Dweller, that we knew. It was revealed way, waay back, methinks. Don't recall the specifics tho'.

We didn't know that he considered him as his dark sire tho', that part is new. It makes perfect sense however, it's a common trope in fiction for the creature created to look upon its creator as a parental figure.

•All-Mother appearing lovely and wise. Still can't get use to Gaea being treated as a 'lesser' god compared to her elder Earth goddess status that seemed equal to Cthon. It weird seeing her play favorites with this Pantheon.

I believe Fraction has mentioned that he put Gaea in there on purpose, wanting to highlight her and do something different with her. Making her more a part of the Pantheon so to speak.

If you think about it tho', she must have done similar things many times, taking on a guise and posing as a goddess in a pantheon, since we have seen her take on different forms before, and apparently she's the one and only Earth-goddesses, so all the other ones in other Pantheons are apparently her, just adapted to the task at hand.

And a small point here... never has it been applied that she's an equal to Chthon, to my knowledge.

Chthon has the power to end the UNIVERSE ENTIRE(!), Gaea does not. Traditionally her sister Oshtur of the Vishanti is portrayed as the counter-point, and therefore presumably ( when combined with the other Vishanti) the equal to Chthon.

She did after all commission the creation of the Books of Vishanti explicitly to counter Chthon's Darkhold, and begin the noble line of Sorcerers Supreme, that protects the entirety of their Universe.
