Is this, they really don't have anyone who can truly stand up to him in terms of pure strength or even just raw power without them augmenting said opponent and thus reneging on what was previously cannonized. For instance, its a known fact that Loki had to augment The Silver Surfer to bring him even close to Thor's abilities, but Marvel now attempts to try and make it look like The Surfer is actually greater in terms of power than Thor. This is strictly the writers who chose to change what has already been established to fit their own will(and its also why Wolverine has like 13 origins). The easiest thing for Marvel to do would be to remember why Thor was originally created by Stan Lee,.. To be stronger than the hulk. Period. Point Blank. End of story. One day they'll get it right again.

... is that they are the children of the 80's where Thor being more powerful than their favorite character stuck in their craw, and the Thor hate began. Thus between hate and a sad lack of imagination on writers parts today, Thor has been limited. Hulk started to have more impressive showings due to popularity.

But the days of the 80's are gone. They don't understand this. The "Hulk smash" thing isn't popular anymore. Being voluntarily stupid isn't cool. Thur Thor's emerging and growing popularity. What they think is that his popularity has grown by curbing his power, and altering his speech to sound like every other hero. It's not. Like with many Thor fans it's his level of power, Greater than all others on Earth, that have people looking toward him again.

Not only that power but he can speak intelligently. There is a character there. But the higher ups at Marvel are stuck in the 80's. That "he's too powerful wah wah wah" crybaby nonsense is still present in those like Quesedia and others.

Like in Hulk vs. in reality when Thor learned that Banner was free of Hulk he would have let loose to finally free Banner and Earth of Hulk. And that incarnation of the Hulk would have been DESTROYED! Thor is, or rather was meant to be, just that powerful. Where that beast would have been raging Thor would have been calm and collected. Would have used his vastly superior fighting ability, vastly superior speed, and vastly superior power to annihilate the creature.

Why Thor being THE hero in Marvel was such a terrible thing to some? I'll never know.
