Is this, they really don't have anyone who can truly stand up to him in terms of pure strength or even just raw power without them augmenting said opponent and thus reneging on what was previously cannonized. For instance, its a known fact that Loki had to augment The Silver Surfer to bring him even close to Thor's abilities, but Marvel now attempts to try and make it look like The Surfer is actually greater in terms of power than Thor. This is strictly the writers who chose to change what has already been established to fit their own will(and its also why Wolverine has like 13 origins). The easiest thing for Marvel to do would be to remember why Thor was originally created by Stan Lee,.. To be stronger than the hulk. Period. Point Blank. End of story. One day they'll get it right again.

If you would create a character that it's the son of arguably the most powerful Sky-Lord ever created in comics, and his mother being Earth's Elder goddess O'Gea. Then, you make him a warrior with centuries of battle experiences with incomparable strength and endurance (that can make him last for weeks or months w/o rest), and super-natural speed. Then, you give that character a hammer empowered by his Father capable of defeating the likes of Ego (who has defeated Galactus in the past) in record time, and even the likes of Surtur with a terrifying imploding mystical Hurricane; plus, the fact that said hammer can break through a Celestial Armor- you'll say- who the heck is gonna beat that guy? People, particularly those WHO ARE NOT Thor's fans, don't understand how powerful Thor supposed to be. Then you see Thor fighting someone like the Hulk with literally no fighting skills, no superior speed, etc. to speak of- and NONE of these people can even come to grips with the facts as to why is this so- if in fact Thor has so much experience as Marvel indicated in the first Marvel vs. DC crossover. You see, either he has fighting skills as he once displayed vs. the Absorbing Man or he does NOT- CAN'T HAVE BOTH WAYS!! This is what's really frustrating, and what's turning people off...

How can a character like Thor has difficulty in defeating the Hulk and others like him that are vastly less powerful than he is, and equally less skilled.... How can anyone make perfect sense of this...?
