Night is not made of mists.

Also no what you do is attempt to downplay it. If at the distance Earth is it is still being devastated in the way it is. Everything in between it and Asgard is also being affected. This is a Universal storm created by the Thunder god. You're really alleging that the sole purpose of such a storm would be to turn night to day? Or if you want to ignore the night part to clear some mist? I'm pretty sure Thor could do that without whipping up a storm of such magnitude.

So the devastation Earth is being hit by, which is clearly shown as a side effect, is something to be ignored in favor of "eh He's just tryin to clear a lil mist", as if a leaf blower would have been just as useful?

I haven't said anything about turning night into day.  Thor said he was clearing away the MISTS-- thin fog-- of night and tossing the giants out of Asgard.  The mist (fog) was obscuring their view.

There is no mention of a universal storm.  There is no mention of blowing away galaxies or galaxies worth of debris.  Thor conjures a powerful storm that hurls the giants out of Asgard, clears the mist obscuring the Asgardians' view of Odin, and causes a great deal of damage on Earth.  That isn't downplaying it-- that's exactly what happens.
