They live only for about 5000 years? Yet there was a story where Thor outlived everyone on earth, and he did not even age. Even if they live only for 10,000 years, that's incongruous to the story where Odin was instrumental in giving birth to humans...or when Thor did not even age when he was attacked by an organism that accelerates the aging process of its prey by several hundred years, or so.

There is really no one answer. It changes with different creative teams and different editors.
