Previous Post

I wrote a post about my closing thoughts on Hickman's time as writer of X-Men after yesterday's publication of INFERNO#4.

elvingsmusings.wordpress.com/2022/01/06/notes-on-jonathan-hickmans-2019-2021-run-on-x-men/

I write about my favorite parts of Hickman's tenure, what my thoughts about it are on the whole (it's mostly positive and appreciative). And my favorite parts of his run.

My favorites are:
-- HOX/POX
-- X-Men#4 (Magneto, Sabah, Xavier at Davos)
-- X-Men#7 "The crucible" (the most controversial X-Men issue of all)
-- X-Men #5, 18-19, "The Vault Trilogy"
-- X of Swords (also a controversial pick)
-- Inferno

And my favorite characters during his run are Doug Ramsey/Cypher, Apocalypse, Moira, Cyclops, Apocalypse.

Unlike many here, I mostly agree with you that Hickman's done a phenomenal job on X-Men, although he was greatly helped by his artists. Where I disagree with you is on the quality of the X-Men satellite titles not written by him, which I mostly failed to find that interesting, and I found the Morrison run pretty bad. And I do think Hickman had at least a couple of bad issues like X-Men #20. Outside of House of X/Power of X, which I agree are the pinnacle of his run, I think Hickman's best issues are X-Men #4, 5, 9, and 15. I also agree that he wrote Cyclops well, which no one else had done in quite some time.
